Co-head of ICM’s department selling books to the film world Nick Harris is among a group of agents whose contracts will not be renewed when they expire in March, according to multiple reports. Harris joined in ICM in late 2010 to lead the department alongside Josie Freedman. The agency is continuing to reshape itself as part of a transition to a partnership.

Author and two-time Pulitzer-winning correspondent Anthony Shadid, 43, died on assignment in Syria, “apparently of an asthma attack.” NYT executive editor Jill Abramson wrote, “Anthony died as he lived — determined to bear witness to the transformation sweeping the Middle East and to testify to the suffering of people caught between government oppression and opposition forces.”

His new book HOUSE OF STONE, originally set for publication by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt on March 27, will now be released on February 28.

At Penguin, Kristin Spang has been promoted to publishing coordinator, continuing to report to Susan Petersen Kennedy.

Chronicle announced a spate of new promotions and hires that took place between November and February. Dean Burrell was promoted to managing editorial director, Lia Brown was named managing editor, Art & Entertainment, and Becca Cohen moves up to associate managing editor, Art & Entertainment. In the Food, Drink & Lifestyle department, Doug Ogan was promoted to managing editor and Claire Fletcher moves up to assistant managing editor. On the sales side, Ryan Kelly has joined as sales manager, special sales & national markets, while Liz Marrotte was named account manager, Moleskine.

Bookmasters has hired Jocelyn Kepko and Robert Troast as national accounts managers, covering Baker & Taylor and Barnes & Noble, and the ID wholesaler channel respectively. Both publishing veterans will report to svp of sales Tony Proe.

Cecilia Campbell-Westlind has joined Daniella Schlingman Literary Scouting as junior scout, concentrating on both adult and children’s trade titles. Previously she worked at Foundry Literary + Media.

Linda Clark Associates is now scouting for Gottmer Publishing in the Netherlands, specializing in mind/body/spirit titles.
