On to Winter Institute

January 17, 2014By Michael Cader

After an exhilarating Digital Book World, the next big event on publishing’s calendar is the ABA’s Winter Institute 9, which begins next Tuesday in Seattle. Founded as an educational and networking event for enthusiastic independent booksellers, it has also grown into a major launch event for spring and summer books and authors.

We are helping to amplify that launch effect throughout the trade and beyond to passionate readers with our free Buzz Books 2014: Spring/Summer ebook sampler, packed with substantial pre-publication excerpts from 40 books to watch from the season ahead. It includes 10 authors will be appearing at WI9: Malcolm Brooks; Stacey D’Erasmo; Barbara Ehrenreich; Greg Iles; Lily King; Amanda Maciel; Ben Mezrich; Chris Weitz; Carol Weston; and J.A. White.

You can sample big debuts already attracting attention (from Laline Paull; Marie-Helen Bertino; and more); anticipated novels from writers you know (Maggie Shipstead; Evie Wyld; Edward St. Aubyn; Cathie Pelletier; Robyn Carr; Jean Kwok; and others), headline-making nonfiction (including Biz Stone, and Nina Stibbe), and an amazing collection of over a dozen YA samples (with Sally Green; Ann Brashares; Lemony Snicket; E. Lockhart; and more).

Spend your weekend with some WI9 magic by downloading this free ebook on your platform/format of choice. The trade edition — which you can download here from NetGalley for any reader, or in an EPUB or Kindle file —  includes detailed marketing, rights and publicity information, and click-throughs after each excerpt if you’re interested in the full galley.

To tweet and share with readers, send them to our new Buzz Books web site and they can click through to any major bookstore. Last year’s Spring/Summer edition included 16 books that became booksellers’ “best of the month” and “best of the year” picks. Start discovering some of 2014’s best new finds now.
