Doubleday vp, executive director of publicity Alison Rich will take on the additional role of associate publisher, Nan A. Talese Books, continuing to report to Suzanne Herz. In her new role Rich will be responsible for providing additional marketing and publicity support and “building social media followings and digital promotion” for the imprint.
At Random House Canada, Lynn Henry is moving from Doubleday Canada to the new role of publishing director at Knopf Canada, reporting to Anne Collins. Amy Black will become associate publisher at Doubleday Canada, reporting to Kristin Cochrane. (Nita Pronovost and Tim Rostron will report to Black). Martha Kanya-Forstner is returning to the company in her previous role of editor-in-chief, Doubleday Canada, also reporting to Cochrane. VP, director of marketing strategy and sssociate publisher for Random House Canada Scott Sellers will now report to Cochrane as well.
In children’s, the company is putting Tundra Books and Doubleday Canada Children’s together under the direction of editorial director Tara Walker. Alison Morgan is leaving Tundra as a result, and Paul Taunton is leaving the company as well.
Also announced Monday is the creation of a Penguin Random House Canada Children’s Literature Board, “to bring the complementary strengths of our children’s publishing teams together to make the most of opportunities to develop our programs” and to “shape and direct the future for children’s publishing” at the company. President publisher of Penguin Canada Nicole Winstanley will chair the board, which includes Brad Martin, Lynne Missen, Tara Walker, Amy Black and Kristin Cochrane.
Elsewhere, Peter Blackstock has been promoted to editor at Grove Atlantic.
Little, Brown Young Readers announced a number of promotions. Mara Lander has been promoted to director of brand and licensed marketing, while Christina Quintero has been promoted to senior art director. Mary-Kate Gaudet moves up to senior editor while Rachel Poloski has been promoted to assistant editor.
In Holland, Luitingh-Sijthoff is starting a children’s and YA line. They have hired Thille Dop as publisher and Hannerlie Modderman as editor, both coming over from Dutch Media’s Moon imprint.
