Karen Fink will join Grand Central as deputy director of publicity on March 23. She spent the past 11 years at Random House, most recently as associate director of publicity handling titles across the Random House, Spiegel & Grau and The Dial Press lists.
Barry Harbaugh joins the Little A imprint at Amazon Publishing in New York as a senior editor focusing primarily on nonfiction, reporting to editor-in-chief David Blum. Harbaugh spent the last five years as an editor at Harper.
Lucy Silag has been promoted to director of Book Country, where she will oversee brand partnerships, manuscript scouting, community outreach, content and engagement strategy, and user support.
Prospect Agency has hired Linda Camacho as an agent.
Obituary
Kensington Publishing general manager Charlie Hart, 62, died suddenly on March 4. The publishing company writes: “Known for his devotion to the business of publishing, his warm personality, and the daily care he took in his job, Charlie was an integral part of Kensington Publishing’s management team and will be missed greatly.” He worked there for 17 years, and was instrumental in the recent distribution change to Penguin Random House Publisher Services. Prior to Kensington, he also worked at Simon & Schuster and Picture Book Studios.

The Manhattan Institute’s $50,000 Hayek Book Prize is being given to James Grant for The Forgotten Depression: 1921: The Crash that Cured Itself.
The inaugural Ellen Gilchrist Prize in Short Fiction was given to Alyce Miller for her short story Missing. The prize includes an offer from China Grove Press to publish a book of short stories in book form.
