Briefs

August 7, 2015By Michael Cader

Bill Adams has been promoted to svp, associate general counsel at Penguin Random House.

Aimee Chase has rejoined Hollan Publishing as editor, after several years of teaching. She worked previously at Hollan as managing editor.

Correcting a brief from earlier this week, Harlequin‘s “global acquisitions team” in the UK is moving into Harper UK’s London Bridge offices, but still reporting into the Harlequin office in Toronto.

With the stock market in a down week, the newly-public Barnes & Noble Education, which officially began trading on Monday, is off to a weak start. Shares are down in Friday morning trading, at a little above $12 a share, their lowest point so far (now with a market cap of below $600 million). Parent company Barnes & Noble is trading close to flat for the week after a mid-week spike.

Readers have nominated Irish author Sara Baume‘s debut novel Spill Simmer Falter Wither (first published by Tramp Press; then reissued by Heinemann) for the longlist for the Guardian first book award. (HMH bought North American rights earlier this year, and plans a 2016 publication.)
