Prizes
Israeli author, storyteller and filmmaker Etgar Keret has won the $100,000 Charles Bronfman Prize “in recognition of his work conveying Jewish values across cultures and imparting a humanitarian vision throughout the world.”
Harvard professor and author Stephen Greenblatt has won Norway’s $540,000 Holgberg Prize for outstanding contributions to research in the arts and humanities, social sciences, law or theology.
Though a reward rather than a prize, in tracking where all the money from the hit musical Hamilton goes, the NYT notes that author Ron Chernow — whose book inspired the show and who also serves as historical consultant to the production — gets a 1 percent royalty on the show’s adjusted gross, “currently about $900,000 a year.”
