People, Etc.

September 19, 2016By Michael Cader

Ibrahim Ahmad has been promoted to editorial director at Akashic Books.

Mackenzie Brady Watson joins the Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency as a literary agent today, where she will continue focusing on representing narrative non-fiction (science, history, sociology, investigative journalism, food, business, and memoir) and select up-market and literary YA fiction. Most recently she was an agent at New Leaf Literary & Media.

Darcy Cohan has joined Insight Editions as PR director.

At Quarto, Geraldine McBride has been promoted to UK sales director, as Jon Stefani leaves the company to join social eating start-up Wefifo.

Novelist WP Kinsella, author of books including Shoeless Joe (the basis of the movie Field of Dreams), took his own life at age 81 in what his agent said was a doctor-assisted procedure.

In advance of a memorial service tomorrow for the late Ellen Seligman, authors Margaret Atwood, Anne Michaels, André Alexis, Guy Vanderhaeghe and Michael Helm offer remembrances on what made her a good editor.

Forthcoming
Scandinavian writer Jo Nesbo will publish another novel featuring detective Harry Hole on May 16, 2o17. Knopf will publish THE THIRST in the US and Canada, and Harvill Secker will publish May 4 in the UK. Knopf says that “Nesbo will tour the US at the time of publication,” in his first US appearances “in several years.”
