Penguin Random House is helping Metro-North Railroad promote recently-expanded free wifi in and around Grand Central Terminal with a Grand Central Reads website. It provides free e-book excerpts for commuters, “tailored and timed to the length of individual commutes.”
In the UK, Profile Books has partnered with Little Brown UK to launch a Profile Audio line, starting with David Runciman’s How Democracy Ends in July. Profile editor Louisa Dunnigan and publicity director Hannah Ross will work with Little Brown UK audio publisher Sarah Shrubb on the imprint, aiming to issue 10 to 15 audiobooks annually. Little Brown UK will record, produce and distribute the audiobooks.

Amazon Books opened their second Washington, DC-area store in Bethesda, MD Tuesday. That makes it their 16 bookstore in the country.
Awards
Zat Lun by Thirii Myo Kyaw Myint won the Graywolf Press Nonfiction Prize, selected from more than 700 manuscripts. The manuscript “captures her own family history and her life growing up in San Jose, CA, and the official and mythic histories that relate to ongoing conflicts in Myanmar.” (The prize — which has gone to Leslie Jamison, Eula Biss, and Kevin Young in the past — includes publication by Graywolf.)
