Eamon Dolan is leaving Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, where he was vp, editorial director of Eamon Dolan Books, after seven years with the company (as well as an earlier stint, when he was editor-in-chief of HMH), upon the news that his imprint is being eliminated. HMH svp, publisher Bruce Nichols said in a statement to PL: “To meet the needs of our changing marketplace, we often must make tough business decisions, including the choice to wind down Eamon Dolan Books. Eamon has been a wonderful colleague and friend. We thank him for his many contributions and wish him the best in his next chapter.” Dolan’s last day at the company is today; going forward he may be reached at eamondolan88@gmail.com.

Zondervan senior editor-at-large Bob Hudson will retire on September 28 after more than 34 years with the company. Hudson, according to the announcement, plans to spend time with his wife “booking more gigs for their old-time string band called Gooder’n Grits” and “to write many more books.”

Scholastic announced a slew of recent promotions and new hires across various departments. At Graphix, Phil Falco has been promoted to creative director; Cassandra Pelham Fulton has been promoted to executive editor; and Carmen Alvarez has joined as marketing manager for chapter books and paperback series. Most recently she was a marketing manager at Abrams Books for Young Readers. In addition, Beth Dunfey returns to Scholastic as executive editorial director for licensing, brands & media. She was previously a freelance editor.

In the production department, Erin O’Connor has been promoted to senior director; Elizabeth Krych moves up to associate director; Gabriel Rumbaut has been promoted to production editor/chief copyeditor; and Josh Berlowitz joins as production editor, hardcover, moving from Abrams, where he was previously a production editor. In marketing and publicity, Ashley Cooke has been promoted to associate marketing manager, while Elisabeth Ferrari has joined as publicist, coming from Little, Brown, Children’s.

Elsewhere at Scholastic, Jackie Rubin has been promoted to senior national accounts manager, while Alan Anderson moves up to metadata and efficiencies coordinator. Finally, Maeve Norton has been promoted to senior designer, trade fiction, while Shivana Sookdeo has joined as designer. Most recently she was a freelance designer.
