With a new managing director to be named as Rebecca Smart leaves for DK, Ebury deputy managing director and publisher Jake Lingwood has decided to leave as well after more than 20 years there, saying it is “the perfect time to leave and try something new.”
William Brandt joins Arcadia Publishing today as director of IT, managing a transition to improved and upgraded systems and applications. He was with C&S Wholesale (previously Piggly Wiggly).

McClelland & Stewart will publish an anonymous political thriller, THE KINGFISHER SECRET, on October 16 in the US and Canada, and simultaneous publication by Century in the UK and Heyne in Germany. The book is written by a successful novelist and journalist, based on speculation from the intelligence community that Ivana Trump might have been used to entrap and compromise her ex-husband on behalf of the Russian government.

Jean-Claude Arnault, who was at the center of a sexual misconduct and financial scandal that led to the postponement of this year’s Nobel Prize, was convicted of two counts of rape. The Stockholm district court unanimously sentenced him to two years in prison, the minimum sentence. Judge Gudrun Antemar, said there was “sufficient evidence, consisting mainly of statements during the trial by the injured party and several witnesses.”
Last November Arnault, the husband of academy member Katarina Frostenson, was accused of sexual misconduct by 18 women. Frostenson resigned in April, amid a flurry of resignations that included the organization’s permanent secretary Sara Danius.
