Kendra Levin will join Simon & Schuster Children’s as editorial director on September 1. She was most recently an editorial director at Penguin Children’s.

Heidi Sachner has left her position as vp of books at F+W Media. Sachner will be working with the Penguin Publishing Group on a consulting basis to assist with the integration through the end of the year and can be reached at hsachner@optonline.net.

Filipe Silva has joined Macmillan as international sales manager, reporting Devin Luna, vp, international sales & marketing. Silva will be responsible for sales in Macmillan’s open market territories, with direct sales responsibilities for the Philippines and Guam. Previously, Sliva worked at Penguin Random House for almost eight years with responsibilities overseeing the Latin America and Caribbean regions.

At Random House Children’s, Kate Glider has joined the consumer product team as associate manager of product development; she previously worked at BuzzFeed. Jenn Inzetta has joined as senior manager, digital marketing; she previously worked freelance for Random House Children’s and held several positions at XenoPsi agency. Kristopher Kam has joined as senior publicist; he was previously with Children’s.

Kate Herman has joined Chronicle Books as senior sales manager. Previously she was director of key accounts & new business at Galison.

In the NYT obituary of George Hodgman, his cousin Molly Roarty “said the cause [of death] was thought to be suicide.”

Bookselling
Barnes & Noble will permanently close its store in Newport, KY on September 7. Developers plan to “remove part of the building to incorporate a ‘paseo’ — a fancy word for a plaza or walkway — through the Ohio River.”

Awards
Pulitzer Prize-winner N. Scott Momaday, author of House Made of Dawn, was awarded the Dayton Literary Peace Prize’s Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award, a lifetime achievement award.

RBmedia is launching new audio imprint Kalorama Audio, focused on “audiobooks and other digital audio content” about politics and policy.
