Something Extra

November 12, 2019By Michael Cader

We are celebrating the 18th anniversary of PublishersMarketplace.com this month (yes, we really did start a paid subscription website after the first dotcom bubble burst and just weeks after 9/11). This year we’re trying something a little different: You’ll be getting the full, longer Publishers Lunch Deluxe for the rest of this week, to provide a little taste of what our paid subscribers see every day. There’s no easy way of doing the same thing for all the big databases and features behind the paywall at PM but to help inspire you to have a look, use time-limited code fifteen19 when you register and you will get your first month’s membership for the original price of $15. (You must enter the code in the “choose a payment plan” section for it to work.) For one more glimpse, we also have a brief video tour that shows you a little bit of what’s behind the paywall.

Over the past 18 years, our databases and features have grown into robust resources relied upon across the industry. Nearly every publisher and literary agency of scale has a full corporate membership now, and even with that deep support we have grown individual PM memberships by over 12 percent this year. Among the notable stats, we have live, updated Dealmaker pages for about 30,000 editors, imprints, agents and agencies around the world, powered by our Deals database — where we report 250 transactions a week or more, now comprising a corpus of over 150,000 deals.

Our Book Tracker follows online sales rank, price and available changes and more for over 27,000 user-designated ISBNs daily; our Bestseller database has almost a million ISBN-coded entries for all the major lists; we track key industry Contacts; chart the relationship among all the main imprints/divisions/publishers; collect almost 115,000 full-length reviews from top newspapers; and even offer authors and agents the ability to see real Bookscan data weekly through a separate upgrade.

Plus our news and analysis — which you’ll sample this week through Publishers Lunch Deluxe — is unparalleled; and we have a full archive going back to 2000, a mobile app to put all the latest news where members need it; an optional separate daily deals newsletter, and still more. So enjoy this anniversary preview and consider trying a full membership with our discount. And thanks for your attention and helping us reach yet another milestone.
