Mensah Demary has been promoted to executive editor at the Catapult Book Group.
Eugenia Pakalik is joining McNally Jackson Books as general manager at the Prince Street store. Most recently she was director of trade sales at Chronicle Books. Previous manager Douglas Singleton has been promoted to director of McNally Jackson Books.
At Yale University Press, Stephen Cebik has been promoted to assistant sales director, head of digital and art sales; Nick Geller is now art book distribution partner coordinator, and Kate Zanzucchi moves up to director of manuscript editing, design, and production, art books.
Vince Burns, editorial vice president of ABC-CLIO, will retire in September after 15 years with the company and 25 years in print and digital publishing. Burns was also editorial director at Greenwood Publishing Group and worked at SAGE Publications.
James Silberman, 93, who published authors including James Baldwin, Marilyn French, Hunter S. Thompson and Alvin Toffler, died on July 26 at his home in Manhattan. His long career included serving as editor in chief and publisher of adult trade books at Random House, and he started and ran the Summit Books imprint at S&S and James H. Silberman Books at Little, Brown.

The 2020 Hugo Awards were announced Friday at the virtual World Science Fiction Convention, with Arkady Martine‘s A Memory Called Empire (Tor) winning best novel and Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone‘s This Is How You Lose the Time War (Saga Press) winning best novella. Emergency Skin by N.K. Jemisin (Forward Collection (Amazon)) won best novelette.
