Bookselling: Shakespeare & Co. to Open in Norwalk, CT; Yu and Me Books Planned for NYC’s Chinatown

Shakespeare & Co. will open location in the new SoNo Collection mall in Norwalk, CT. This is the first suburban location for the chain, which also has locations in Manhattan and Philadelphia. CEO Dane Miller told The Hour, “It is a beautiful new mall. Malls got pretty hurt by the pandemic but it appears that, hopefully, we are coming out the other end.” Manhattan’s first Asian-American female-owned bookstore-cafe-bar, Yu and Me Books, is set to open in December, Bowery Boogie reports. Independent Publishers Group’s Midpoint will distribute Histria Books beginning on July 1, 2022; CS Media on January 1; and CamCat Publishing on June 1. Shanghai Press is now distributed by Midpoint. Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group will be distributed by IPG Digital starting December 1, 2021.

Chelsea Green Sues Elizabeth Warren For “First Amendment Violation”

Vermont publisher Chelsea Green filed a federal lawsuit in a Washington District Court against Senator Elizabeth Warren, claiming she violated the First Amendment in a September 7 letter to Amazon ceo Andy Jassy cautioning the retailer about the role of their algorithm in promoting vaccine conspiracy books. The publisher was joined in the suit by authors of The Truth About COVID-19: Exposing the Great Reset, Lockdowns, Vaccine Passports, and the New Normal Dr. Joseph Mercola, Ronald Cummins, Robert F.
