Scholastic Creates Separate Diverse Books Collection For Elementary School Book Fairs
Following Reddit reports from librarians in September, the Mary Sue recently asserted that to comply with country-wide book bans Scholastic Book Fairs has grouped diverse titles into a separate, optional or excludable a la carte case. On Friday, Scholastic released a statement claiming, “The biggest misconception is that Scholastic Book Fairs is putting all diverse titles into one optional case. Actress Michelle Williams will narrate Britney Spears’ audiobook, THE WOMAN IN ME, to be released on Oct. 24. Spears will narrate the book’s introduction. In a release, Spears said, “This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it. Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. Springer Nature Announces AI Writing Assistant
Springer Nature has announced Curie, an in-house AI-powered writing assistant that aids researchers–especially those whose first language is not English–in writing academic papers. Curie is an “evolution” of Springer’s digital editing and translation services, managed by the company’s author services arm, AJE. Obituary: Louise Glück
Poet Louise Glück, 80, died of cancer on October 13. Glück won the Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for THE WILD IRIS, the National Book Award in 2014 for FAITHFUL AND VIRTUOUS NIGHT, and the Nobel Prize in 2020. She was also the US Poet Laureate from 2003-2004.
