CAA to Acquire ICM
Two leading talent agencies will combine, pending regulatory approval, as Creative Artists Agency announced Monday that it will acquire ICM Partners. A release notes, “ICM’s industry-leading books division superbly complements CAA’s content-driven motion pictures, television, and podcasting businesses, in addition to its speakers arm, and other divisions.” ICM ceo Chris Silbermann will join CAA’s shareholder board. National Book Awards Cancels Plans for In-Person Ceremony, Returns to Virtual Event
After planning for an in-person event for vaccinated guests, the National Book Awards ceremony will be held virtually this year, “in light of public health concerns and ongoing uncertainty related to the coronavirus.” The ceremony will be streamed live on the National Book Foundation’s website, YouTube, and Facebook at 7 PM Eastern on November 17. HBG Completes Acquisition of Workman
Hachette Book Group announced it has completed its $240 million acquisition of Workman. As previously announced, Workman ceo Dan Reynolds will head the group, reporting to HBG ceo Michael Pietsch, and will join the Executive Management Board.
