UNC Press Chair Denied Reappointment

Professor Eric Muller, chair of the University of North Carolina Press Board of Governors, announced on Twitter that the university’s board of governors has, in an unprecedented move, denied his reappointment to the board. Deals: Harper Acquires King Archives

Harper Collins will become the official publisher of Dr. Martin Luther King’s archives, acquiring world rights to all formats and languages, including children’s books, graphic novels, and audiobooks. Their first titles will be published in January 2022 in the US, to coincide with Martin Luther King Day. The company announced that the Harper One Group “will appoint an archivist to facilitate access to the material, which will be available to all Harper Collins editors globally. The company’s many divisions will look to engage prominent Black scholars, actors, artists, performers, and social activists to help bring Dr. King’s works to life.” […]

New York-based employees at Oxford University Press USA have unionized, joining the NewsGuild-CWA.
