USA Today has added ebook sales data from Kobo in compiling their weekly bestseller list. The paper already includes ebook sales from Amazon, Nook and Sony. Hopkins Fulfillment Services has launched HFS Digital, which will allow clients to sell monographs and scholarly works direct to consumers as ebooks through their websites as a result of a new partnership with Sheridan Books’ new Electronic Content Services division. Today brings the news of three store closings. DuBois Bookstore, a family-owned institution which opened 75 years ago near Kent State University, closed Tuesday without prior warning. “After almost 75 years of business, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve the students, faculty and staff of Kent State University and the community of Kent. Thank you for your patronage” read a message on the bookstore’s Facebook page. No additional explanation was given by the store’s owners. Politico and Random House are partnering to publish four “instant” digital books throughout the 2012 Presidential election beginning this fall. The as-yet-untitled series, with books to be in the 20,000-30,000 word range, will be reported and written by Politico chief white house correspondent and Playbook founder Mike Allen and former Newsweek editor Evan Thomas, with Jon Meacham to edit.
