Simon & Schuster Audio will release The Trump Tapes by Bob Woodward, an “eight-hour audio archive of Bob Woodward’s twenty interviews with President Donald J. Trump,” on October 25. The book will be available simultaneously in both the US and the UK. The publisher writes in a release that the 19 interviews begin in March 2016, when Trump was on the verge of obtaining the Republican nomination, and continue through August 2020 as Woodward prepared for his second book on the presidency. RBmedia Acquires John Verlag’s German-language Audiobook Catalog
Audiobook company RBmedia has acquired John Verlag’s German-language audiobook catalog. The newly-acquired titles–described in a release as “predominantly nonfiction audiobooks in the politics, investigative journalism, business, biographies, and advice genres”–will be added to the RBmedia Verlag audio brand. As the company notes in the announcement, since 2021 RBmedia has acquired five European audiobook catalogs—Booka, ABOD, Hörbuch München, Éditions Thélème, and now John Verlag.

Storytel Expands Into France
Storytel is launching their audiobook subscription in France today, and has partnered with the country’s largest publishers — including Hachette Livre, Madrigall, Editis, and Actes Sud. Readers will be able to access more than 7,000 titles in French and more than 290,000 in Arabic and English through Storytel. Spotify Launches Audiobooks
As long promised, now Spotify has launched audiobooks, making 300,000 titles available for purchase to its US users. Spotify’s vp and global head of audiobooks and gated content Nir Zicherman said, “Starting today, users in the US can easily find audiobooks on Spotify alongside music and podcasts as a section in their library, in search, and in their curated recommendations on Home.” Audiobooks are priced individually (the company says prices are “competitive and in line with other a la carte audiobook retailers”) and there is no credit system in place akin to Audible’s.
