Distribution: S&S to Distribute TKO
Starting February 1, comics and graphic novel publisher TKO Studios will be distributed by Simon & Schuster. S&S will manage trade book sales and retail distribution for the publisher worldwide.
Publishing Graduate Students Work on Distribution Issues
Graduate students at Portland State University are working to address distribution problems in the publishing industry, in partnership with the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) and PubWest. Students will lead research projects into decreasing returns; making book printing truly carbon neutral; increasing use of POD as a preferred means of printing; addressing shortcomings in the supply chain that were exacerbated by the pandemic, and more. IBPA and PubWest will present the findings to the book trade after the projects are completed in March.
HBG to Expand Indiana Warehouse
Hachette Book Group received local approval to expand their warehouse in Lebanon, IN. The company will invest almost $21 million in a 164,000-square-foot expansion that will also include ancillary office space. Construction is due to begin later this year, and the company tells PL the expected completion date for the construction is April 2023. When HBG announced their deal to acquire Workman Publishing last August, ceo Michael Pietsch had indicated to us, “It will take us at least a year or two to expand our warehouse to accommodate” the Workman distribution.
Distribution: University of Chicago Press, Baker & Taylor Publishing Services
The University of Chicago Press will market and distribute the Grolier Club worldwide starting January 1, 2022. Baker & Taylor Publisher Services will sell and distribute the following clients: Little Feminist, worldwide, effective immediately; Cardinal Rule Press, worldwide, starting January 1; Schaffner Press, worldwide, starting January 1; Tapioca Stories, in the US and Canada, effective immediately, and Feeding Minds Press, in the US and Canada, starting January 1.
Distribution: Additions to IPG
Beginning January 1, Independent Publishers Group (IPG) will distribute Phoenix Books, Stygian Sky Media, and Imagine and Wonder‘s print titles (IPG already handled Imagine and Wonder’s digital distribution). Overcup Press will be distributed by IPG beginning March 1. Kitchen Ink Publishing is now distributed by IPG, as well.
