Simon & Schuster has entered into a new distribution and publishing agreement with Yilin Press in China that will expand the availability of electronic editions of works in Mandarin for readers worldwide, while also making works by notable Chinese authors available to English-language audiences. Former Farrar, Straus editor Courtney Hodell will take over as director of the Whiting Writers’ Awards, and Daniel Reid will serve as the foundation’s new executive director, as of November 1. Currently director of strategic planning at the CUNY Institute for Education Policy, Reid takes over from Kellye Rosenheim, who has worked for the Whiting Foundation since 1990. Hodell succeeds Barbara Bristol, who has run the awards for sixteen years.
