On Friday, Library Journal abruptly announced the immediate departure of editor-in-chief Francine Fialkoff, after 15 years of running the magazine. Executive editor Michael Kelley has taken over as interim editor-in-chief. “Fialkoff plans to stay in the library world.” At Harlequin, Emily Rodmell has been promoted to editor at the Love Inspired imprint. Ellen Gerstein will join Grand Central as vp, director of marketing, starting September 10 and reporting directly to Jamie Raab. Amazon New York has said for many months it was their intention to make the start-up imprint’s ebooks available for sale by other ebooksellers. Though they are down to the wire, since their fall release schedule started yesterday with Harley Manning and Kerry Bodine’s OUTSIDE IN: The Power of Putting Customers at the Center of Your Business, and Jessica Valenti’s WHY HAVE KIDS? publishes September 4, the line has reached a distribution agreement with Ingram’s Core Source program, paidContent reports. The Christopher Little Agency has entered into a new affiliation with Curtis Brown, effective immediately. The Bookseller reports that Little himself will continue to operate independently, but Curtis Brown will now take responsibility for administering related contracts and selling clients’ translation rights. Little said in a statement that he is “delighted with this arrangement as it allows both me and my team the flexibility to expand the creative arm of my agency. Amazon UK issued a press release Monday touting the news that ebook sales now outpace all print sales combined, measured across 2012. For every 100 print books sold from Amazon.co.uk (in all formats combined), they’ve sold 114 Kindle editions. As usual, their ratio excludes free Kindle books (but does include very inexpensive ones, and KDP titles). Amazon US passed a similar milestone as of April 1, 2011.
