Beth Harrison is joining the National Book Foundation as deputy director. She comes from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, where she was assistant executive director for development and external relations. Previously she served for 11 years at the Academy of American Poets, most recently as interim executive director. Michael Eisenberg has been promoted to vice president, associate publisher for the Highlights Retail Group. Melanie Iglesias Perez, Loan Le, and Haley Weaver have each been promoted to assistant editor at Atria Books. Distribution Ampersand will represent Self-Counsel Press in Canada, from Alberta to Eastern Canada.

Hachette Book Group Terminates Weinstein Imprint
Following the extensive and continuing accounts of alleged sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein, on Thursday Hachette Book Group announced that they are finished with Weinstein Books, both as a publishing partner and a moniker. (The line was acquired as part of their purchase of the Perseus Books Group.) People: Senior to Leave Critic Role, Bill Clinton at NBF Dinner, and More
NYT book critic Jennifer Senior “has decided to leave” her position in December, moving to a long-form journalism role at the paper. New Kindle Oasis Is Waterproof
Amazon announced its new ereader, the Kindle Oasis, on Wednesday morning after a banner ad for the Amazon Android app leaked some of the details. The new device is waterproof: “it’s designed to withstand getting splashed at the beach or dropped in the bath tub, hot tub, or pool.” It also has a fast-charging battery that enables it to charge in two hours, plus the longer-than-before battery life. It’s priced at $249.99 for the 8 GB model and $279.99 for the 32 GB model, as ever, with ads.
