President of Brazil’s Grupo Editorial Record Sérgio Machado, 68, died on Wednesday of complications from surgery last November, Publish news reports. He ran the publisher since 1991, following the death of his father, Alfredo Machado. His sister and partner Sonia Machado Jardim takes over as president of the company. Two of his daughters work at the publisher: Roberta Machado and Rafaella Machado. Newly appointed UK foreign secretary and Brexit campaign leader Boris Johnson‘s forthcoming book on Shakespeare, scheduled for release on November 15 from Hodder & Stoughton and Riverhead, will not be published this year, and may not be published at all according to the Daily Mail. They report Johnson “is believed to be having to pay back a £500,000 advance” to Hodder & Stoughton having “conceded he doesn’t have the time” to write the book. In a turnabout from the reported delay we wrote about Wednesday morning, by a substantial vote of 74 to 18, on Wednesday afternoon the US Senate confirmed Carla Hayden for a 10-year term as Librarian of Congress in a roll call vote. After winning unanimous support from the Senate Rules Committee, Carla Hayden‘s nomination to serve as Librarian of Congress has been held up by one or more Republicans.
