Pocket Books will relaunch its Pocket Star mass market paperback line as a dedicated ebook imprint, continuing to feature bestselling and debut authors in women’s fiction, romance, thrillers, urban fantasy, and mystery. Executive editor at Pocket Lauren McKenna will oversee all content for Pocket Star as editorial director. The move comes after Pocket published Kresley Cole’s novella WARLORD WANTS FOREVER as an ebook, selling 60,000 copies. Editorial director of Book Business and Publishing Executive magazines Noelle Skodzinski has left the company, publisher Matt Steinmetz confirms to DBW. Palgrave Macmillan is launching a new imprint, Palgrave Pivot, that will blend journal and digital-short publishing models. Marysue Rucci will return to Simon & Schuster as vp, editor-in-chief on April 2. She was most recently editorial director at Putnam and originally worked at S&S from 1997 through 2010. “Marysue will be the leader and architect of Simon & Schuster’s fiction list,” said publisher Jonathan Karp in a statement. “She will supervise all our fiction acquisitions, build her own list of authors–both novelists and nonfiction writers–and provide counsel to our editors.
