Hoover’s New Novel Sold Over 800,000 Units on Opening Day
Colleen Hoover’s IT STARTS WITH US sold over 800,000 units in the US on its publication day, Tuesday, October 18, publisher Atria reported. That includes considerable pre-orders, along with sales across all major formats (print, ebooks, and digital audiobooks). Atria printed 2.5 million copies, across four printings, and said the book “was the most pre-ordered novel in Simon & Schuster history.” Update: NPD Bookscan subsequently recorded opening week sales of 809,000 hardcovers alone through the outlets that they track.
Forthcoming Audio: The Trump Tapes by Bob Woodward
Simon & Schuster Audio will release The Trump Tapes by Bob Woodward, an “eight-hour audio archive of Bob Woodward’s twenty interviews with President Donald J. Trump,” on October 25. The book will be available simultaneously in both the US and the UK. The publisher writes in a release that the 19 interviews begin in March 2016, when Trump was on the verge of obtaining the Republican nomination, and continue through August 2020 as Woodward prepared for his second book on the presidency. Penguin Random House will publish in multiple territories A MESSAGE FROM UKRAINE, a 144-page hardcover collecting speeches by Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky, who wrote an introduction to the book as well. Crown publishes on December 6, and Hutchinson Heinemann releases November 24. PRH will also publish through Siedler (Germany), Debate (Spain), and Vogais (Portugal).
