Ahead of Tuesday’s release of Sally Rooney’s Beautiful World, Where Are You? the NYT catches up on the buzz around the pre-publication promotional swag. “For some publishing professionals, FSG’s mailings have been humbling.” Some people got the tote bag, but not the yellow bucket hat. Harper will publish Congressman Jamie Raskin’s memoir, UNTHINKABLE: Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy, on January 4, 2022. SVP & director of creative development Lisa Sharkey acquired World Rights, with executive editor Matt Harper editing. In a release, Raskin said, “I wrote UNTHINKABLE as a way to make sense of two traumatic events in my life, the shattering loss of our son Tommy to depression on the last day of 2020 and, one week later, the bloody January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol incited by Donald Trump and calculated to overthrow the 2020 presidential election.”

Paula Hawkins and Lemony Snicket lead this week’s fiction releases, while nonfiction includes The Washington Post and Craig Whitlock on The Afghanistan Papers. William Morrow will publish a new anthology of short stories featuring Agatha Christie’s Jane Marple. Fully authorized by Agatha Christie Ltd. and slated for publication by Harper Collins in the US and UK in September 2022, the book will feature 12 short stories by contributors including Leigh Bardugo, Alyssa Cole, Jean Kwok, Val McDermid, Karen M.
