Sourcebooks ceo Dominique Raccah was honored at the opening of BEA on Wednesday with their Industry Ambassador Award. Former IPG distribution executive Mark Suchomel has joined Perseus Books Group’s distribution client services group and will run a new division based in Chicago, Legato Publishing Group. It will operate as “an affiliate” of PGW, “leveraging some of PGW’s scale and best practices in serving independent publishers.” The Random House Publishing Group announced a number of promotions in its publicity department. Former publisher at Twelve Cary Goldstein will join Simon & Schuster’s trade imprint as vp, executive director of publicity and senior editor on June 3. David Fickling will leave Random House Children’s UK after more than 12 years in order to launch his existing children’s imprint, David Fickling Books, as an independent venture in July. Fickling will be chairman of the new company, and author and editor Simon Mason will take on the role of managing director. The venture will continue to be based in its existing Oxford office and plans to publish 25-30 books a year.
