Just over two months ahead of the next BookExpo America gathering in Chicago, longtime event director Steve Rosato is leaving the show after 18 years at Reed Exhibitions. More Berkley/NAL Staffers Are Laid Off
A spokesperson for Berkley/NAL confirms that “a number of positions” at the division, which was merged into Putnam Dutton in January, have been eliminated. Other outlets and Twitter conversations indicate at least four editors and other support staff have been let go, and that title cuts at the Ace and Roc science fiction and fantasy imprints are on the way. Author Pat Conroy‘s pancreatic cancer advanced far more quickly than expected when he announced his condition to fans in mid-February, and he died Friday evening at his home in Beaufort, SC. His longtime editor and publisher Nan Talese said in a brief statement, “Pat has been my beloved friend and author for 35 years, spanning his career from THE PRINCE OF TIDES to today.
