The consolidated email domain for North American employees of Penguin Random House has been implemented and everyone has been issued a new email address based on the default protocol of  firstinitiallastname@penguinrandomhouse.com. But the previous email addresses, for both penguingroup.com and randomhouse.com, will continue to work “in perpetuity,” spokesperson Stuart Applebaum tells us. No other Penguin Random House e-mail domain changes have been implemented yet for other territories.

Nobel laureate Nadine Gordimer, 90, died at home in Johannesburg. Gordimer won the Booker in 1974 and the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in 2002, along with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1991. Jamil Ahmad, 83, author of THE WANDERING FALCON, died at his home in Islamabad after a long illness. Ahmad’s debut novel was published in 2011 when he was 79 after being excerpted in the “Pakistan” issue of Granta. At St Martin’s, Nancy Trypuc has been promoted to vp, creative services. Amazon Publishing editorial director of Little A and New Harvest Julia Cheiffetz announced on Twitter, “I resigned from Amazon Publishing yesterday. I’m grateful to my devoted team and proud of our books. On to new adventures.” Rachel Bressler will join Plume as editorial director on July 14, taking over from Phil Budnick (recently named director of field & wholesaler sales for Penguin’s adult hardcover division).
