Scholastic has hired Miriam Farbey for the new position of global publisher, nonfiction in their trade publishing division. She will oversee all children’s trade nonfiction publishing, reporting to trade division president Ellie Berger. Farbey was most recently global publisher at DK. Based in Scholastic’s UK off, she started June 1. James Jayo is joining Globe Pequot Press as an editor for Lyons Press. Simon & Schuster is expected to announce tomorrow that publisher of their adult trade imprint since 1997 David Rosenthal is leaving the company. But waiting for the “announcement” is moot since the news has been confirmed to multiple people throughout the day, both inside and outside the company. Rosenthal himself has been informing people, including telling the NYT earlier tonight, “It’s been a great run for 13 years with great books and authors.
