The Pulitzer Prizes were announced Monday afternoon, with LESS by Andrew Sean Greer winning the fiction prize. (Christopher Buckley had written in the NYT last July: “Convulsed in laughter a few pages into Andrew Sean Greer’s fifth novel, Less, I wondered with regret why I wasn’t familiar with this author. My bad. His admirers have included John Updike, Michael Chabon, Dave Eggers and John Irving. Less is the funniest, smartest and most humane novel I’ve read since Tom Rachman’s 2010 debut, The Imperfectionists.”) LESS is the rare fiction winner that was not prominent among other awards nominees or “best of the year” […]

He is no longer working with the agency.” (Asher’s primary […]
Note From MPR CEO Alleges “Dozens of Sexually Inappropriate Incidents” by Garrison Keillor
A letter from Minnesota Public Radio ceo Jon McTaggart posted Tuesday afternoon clarified the allegations of inappropriate behavior against Garrison Keillor that resulted in the termination of his contract last November. Keillor had trivialized the complaint at the time, saying it was about one time he “put my hand on a woman’s bare back.” But in answering questions submitted by listeners, McTaggart revealed that the accusation triggering the investigation was of “dozens of sexually inappropriate incidents” directed at a colleague over a number of years. A 12-page letter submitted to MPR in October by the woman’s attorney detailed “many of the alleged incidents, including […]

Following our report that Ecco planned to pull an advertisement from the March issue of Harper’s magazine, after online rumors suggested that Katie Roiphe’s article would reveal the name of the creator of the “S—-y Media Men” list, Roiphe told the NYT that her article would not identify that person. She said to the NYT, “I would never put in the creator of the list if they didn’t want to be named,” she said. And the paper writes, “Roiphe said that she herself did not know the identity of the person who started the list.” However, the same article reports that the NYT obtained […]
