Pan Macmillan in the UK also shut down their systems as a result of the weekend security incident at Macmillan. They said in a statement: “As a precautionary measure, we immediately took systems offline to prevent further impact to our network. We are working diligently with specialists to investigate the source of this issue, understand its impact on our systems, and to restore full functionality to our networks as soon as possible.”

Macmillan Closed Tuesday As Well As They Address Security Incident
Macmillan updated its previous statement about a security incident over the weekend, writing that it involved “encryption of certain files on our network.” The publisher will remain closed all day on Tuesday, June 28. Their statement continues, “As a precautionary measure, we immediately took systems offline to prevent further impact to our network and closed the offices on Monday, June 27. We are working diligently with specialists to investigate the source of this issue, understand its impact on our systems, and to restore full functionality to our networks as soon as possible. Bookselling: Tattered Cover Adds Location, New Design For B&N
As of today, Colorado bookstore chain the Tattered Cover has opened a new location in downtown Colorado Springs, its 11th store and first outside the Denver area. The 8,000-square-foot store features “thousands of books, a full-service bar and café, and a kids area.” Elsewhere, Barnes & Noble has announced an updated store design, featuring new furniture and book rooms meant to create a “curated, cozy, and welcoming space for communities to work, read and browse.” Previous redesigns, such as their Westport, CT store last year, have boasted a “smaller footprint” and “bespoke oak shelving.”
