President Kara Welsh departs on March 31 after 25 years at the Random House Publishing Group.

Scott Shannon will take over as president of BBD, where he “will drive an ambitious growth agenda while strengthening BBD’s market leadership in commercial publishing across categories such as book club fiction, commercial nonfiction, romance, mystery, thriller and more.”

Reporting to Shannon are publisher Jennifer Hershey; deputy publisher Kim Hovey; director, backlist Jean Quinn; and associate publishing manager Sydney Meve.

Keith Clayton moves up to svp publisher, Random House Worlds, now reporting to RHPG president Sanyu Dillon.

Wiley   

Armughan Rafat has joined as chief AI and data services officer, reporting to ceo Matthew Kissner. He was previously chief analytics officer at Norstella.

Ingram Content Group   

Gabriel Kashin has joined as vice president of product merchandising. He was previously at Powell’s Books.

Holt   

Sam Wiener has been promoted to associate publicist.

Alex Foster, Zoe Affron, and Leela Gebo have been promoted to assistant editor.

Doubleday Canada   

Bhavna Chauhan has been promoted to associate publisher.

Megan Kwan has been promoted to associate editor

BINC   

Meghan Holmes joins the board of directors. She is a marketing executive with over 16 years of experience in the retail and marketing agency sectors.

Susan Yeager joins the board of directors. She is currently senior director of sales at Harper Collins.

Steven Malk completed his board service.

Hub City Press   

Kate McMullen becomes associate publisher.

Abrams   

Liam Flanagan has joined as art director, licensed entertainment.

Kin & Co. Literary Scouting   
The company will now scout the adult market, in addition to children’s & YA, for RBA Libros in Spain.
Katie Couric   

As she teased at the beginning of the year, Katie Couric has started a book club on her Substack. Her first pick is Virginia Evans’s THE CORRESPONDENT.
