Todd Portnowitz has been promoted to editor.

Brian Etling has been promoted to assistant editor.

Abrams   

Christine Edwards will join as senior vice president of sales on February 12. She was most recently senior vice president of the adult sales group at HarperCollins.

Scholastic   

Tessa Meischeid has joined as publicity manager. Meischeid was previously publicity manager at Penguin Children’s.

Kristin Rasmussen has joined as district sales manager. Rasmussen was formerly co-executive director of the California Independent Booksellers Alliance.

Berkley   

Lisa Bonvissuto has joined as editor.

Open Road Integrated Media   

Mary Brigante is joining as corporate controller.

NorthSouth Books   

Andie Krawczyk has joined in the dual role of managing director and sales and marketing director. Previously, she was children’s marketing director at Chronicle.

Los Angeles Times   

Books editor Boris Kachka was let go this week as a part of newsroom layoffs. The paper has not yet announced what will happen to the section. A rep told PL, “In light of the layoffs, the newsroom is working through several changes.”
