Books editor Boris Kachka was among 115 or more people laid off on Tuesday. He had joined the paper in early 2020 and led a revitalization of their books coverage. The paper has not yet announced what will happen to the books section. A rep told PL, “In light of the layoffs, the newsroom is working through several changes.”

Sonali Fry has been promoted to vp, publisher, Crown Children’s and executive director, Little Tiger.

Phoebe Yeh has been named vp, editor-at-large, Crown Children’s.

Kelly Delaney has been promoted to senior editor, Crown Children’s.

On the Random House Brands and Graphic team, Heidi Kilgras has been promoted to executive editorial director and Jasmine Hodge has been promoted to associate editor. Frank Berrios has been promoted to executive editor for Random House Brands. Whitney Leopard has been promoted to executive editor at Random House Graphic.

Shane Eichacker has been promoted to assistant art director. John Wyffels has been promoted to senior digital artist.

Gabby Fisher has been promoted to director of publicity.

Tayla Monturio has joined as associate publicist, children’s books.

Melissa Rechter has been promoted to editor and acquisitions manager.

Dulce Botello has been promoted to marketing coordinator.
