Alexandra Hill will leave the corporate communications team after more than 7 years.

Thomas King

Canadian-American author Thomas King wrote in an essay in the Globe and Mail that he recently learned his biological father, who the family thought was part Cherokee, in fact did not have any indigenous ancestry. The winner of prizes including the Governor General’s award for fiction, the RBC Taylor Prize, and Canada’s National Aboriginal Achievement Award for arts and culture based much of his work on telling Indigenous stories. He wrote: “I feel as though I’ve been ripped in half, a one-legged man in a two-legged story. Not the Indian I had in mind. Not an Indian at all.”

He added, “I’ve spent my entire adult life in Indigenous affairs as an activist, program administrator, university professor, and a writer of fiction and non-fiction.”
