University Press of Kentucky is launching a new imprint called Screen Door Press. Crystal Wilkinson, an Academy of American Poets fellow and author of books including Praisesong for the Kitchen Ghosts, will edit. The imprint will “celebrate the best in fiction by publishing thought-provoking books featuring relatable characters, strong narratives, and beautiful language that champion diverse views from throughout the Black diaspora.” They plan to publish two books a year with authors receiving a $5000 award.
