Ben Loehnen has been promoted to vice president and co-publisher.

Simon & Schuster Children’s   

On April 8, Sarah Barley will join as editorial director of an as-yet-to-be-named imprint under Simon and Schuster Children’s. She was previously editorial director at Flatiron Books.

The publisher writes, “The imprint’s aim will be to publish vibrant literary and commercial books that appeal directly to readers eight and up. The imprint will focus on innovative titles with distinctive writing and great storytelling that instill wonder, inspire conversation, and above all, entertain teens and children of all ages.”

Kelly Atkinson has been promoted to associate director, operations.

Kaitlyn Robinson has been promoted to associate director, managing editorial.

Cady Zeng has been promoted to assistant managing editor.

Westwood Creative Artists   

Founder of Westwood Creative Artists Bruce Westwood has retired. The company writes, “Among the highlights of his career are his faithful support of and abiding friendships with the many writers he represented, and particularly with literary giants Timothy Findley and Rohinton Mistry; his attendance at countless Frankfurt Book Fairs, where he negotiated offers over dinners with international publishing friends; and an unknowable number of long lunches with top editors in Toronto and New York, where book deals were often worked out on the backs of napkins.”

Jake Babad, who left the agency in 2016 to attend law school, is rejoining as vice president, finance and co-head of media rights on March 4. Previously, he was a litigator at Torys LLP.
