Suzanne Herz is rejoining the company as publisher, John Grisham. She will begin on April 15, reporting to chief revenue officer Jaci Updike. The John Grisham business will now be run from the corporate side, not Doubleday, though his books “will continue to be published under the Doubleday colophon.” Herz “will oversee our publishing strategy for the John Grisham brand, which will now live alongside the Sales and Corporate Marketing teams.”

She was previously evp, publisher of Vintage/Anchor, but took the company’s VSO package and left in December , serving in “an external, consulting role as John Grisham’s longtime publisher.” According to the announcement, “This new alignment will enable us to work even more collaboratively to expand John Grisham’s readership, and will help position the brand for future growth across both frontlist and backlist, and in all formats. Suzanne and John have worked together on close to forty of his titles.”

Joining Herz is Lauren Weber, who “currently oversees the day-to-day Grisham marketing activities, brand partnerships, newsletters, and social channel,” now promoted to executive director, brand development.

A spokesperson indicates that Grisham’s advertising, publicity, production, and art teams are all still within Doubleday.
