Simon & Schuster Children's   

Ashley Herzig will join on June 1 in the newly-created role of director of publishing operations for all children’s imprints and Scarlett Press, taking over some of the functions of vp, deputy publisher Anne Zafian, who will retire at the end of June. Herzig was previously a national account manager for Amazon at Simon & Schuster.

DK   

Dan Hurst will join July 8 in the newly created position of publisher, lifestyle, within the Life division, reporting to publishing director Stephanie Jackson. Hurst will “strengthen the lifestyle program, steer its expansion, develop strategic opportunities and oversee all of its commissioning and publishing in line with DK’s ambition to create clever, compelling, market-leading lists in the UK and beyond.”

Hurst was previously publisher, cookery at Penguin Michael Joseph.

Ashley Reisinger has been promoted to associate agent.

Tim Johnston   

Tim Johnston, 63, author of the Distant Sons Trilogy, died of brain cancer on May 26 in Iowa City.
