Sourcebooks   

Sourcebooks is creating an internal sales team of field sales and telesales representatives to service indie bookstores, led by Courtney Payne, who joins as director of independent retail sales. She was previously director of independent retailers, wholesale and institutional sales at Chronicle Books. Payne will report to svp sales, Paula Amendolara.

Their roster of commission sales representative groups will continue to represent Sourcebooks through the end of 2024. Sourcebooks notes it “is grateful to the commission sales representative groups who over the years have expanded our business and put our books in readers’ hands…. With the creation of the Sourcebooks independent sales force, we are investing in this important channel, offering curated lists of titles for each indie bookstore, building on our relationships with indie booksellers, and continuing to expand opportunities for Sourcebooks authors and their books.”

Ginny Cartwright Ziegler joins as chief marketing officer, reporting to ceo Omar Abbosh, effective July 29. Ziegler succeeds Lynne Frank, who is stepping down from her dual role as chief marketing officer and co-president, direct to consumer. Ziegler was previously chief marketing officer for North America at Accenture.

Phil DiSanto has been named vice president of technology development, reporting to president and CEO Mary McAveney, DiSanto will oversee the data engineering team, the IT team, and “manage the deployment of hardware and software to ensure robust data collection, security, and management.” He was previously director of information technology at Barnes & Noble and most recently vice president of technology and chief information officer at Allstar Innovations.

Farrin Jacobs will join on July 29 as executive editor. She was most recently VP, editorial director at Little Brown Children’s.
