Clive Priddle will step down as publisher, effective September 13. Basic Books Group publisher Lara Heimert writes, “No email can properly sum up the magnitude of Clive’s contributions as an editor and publisher. Nor can it encapsulate the qualities that have made him such a magnificent colleague – his massive intelligence, of course, but also his great wit, his elegance, and his impeccable ethics. We will miss him tremendously.”

Leigh Marchant will join as svp and chief marketing officer on September 23, reporting to Richard Kitson. Most recently, Marchant has been svp, director of marketing & strategy & engagement at the Random House Group. Marchant will lead HBG’s marketing strategy team, which “works across 40 imprints to implement data-driven marketing strategies and execute effective campaigns.”

Ingrid Paredes has joined the Special Markets team as manager, corporate & premium sales. Paredes was previously special projects manager at Scholastic.

Ellie VandenBerg has been promoted to vice president after almost nine years at the firm, responsible for much of the day-to-day operation of the business.
