Apple   

The company plans to cut approximately 100 jobs in its “services” segment, Bloomberg reports, with “the biggest impact on teams responsible for the Apple Books app and Apple Bookstore.” The Apple News team will also be affected. “The company informed affected employees across different teams in senior VP Eddy Cue’s services group on Tuesday,” the report says.

Harper Collins   

Jamil Zaidi has joined the field sales team as sales rep for the PNBA and MPIBA regions, reporting to Kathy Faber. He was previously at Chronicle and is based in Seattle.

Giselle Durand has joined the field team as sales rep for the MIBA and GLIBA regions, reporting to Faber. She was previously at bookseller at The Book Cellar and is based in Chicago.

Starting Sept. 3, Suzi Hough will join the field team as sales rep for the CALIBA region, reporting to Faber. She is based in San Jose, CA and was previously a commission sales rep for the Imprint Group.

Kalani Kapahua has joined the inside sales team as sales rep for the SIBA region, including Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina and working with many BIPOC stores across the country. He will report to Dawn Littman. He was previously manager and buyer at Third Place Books.

Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators   

Author and art director at Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers Laurent Linn has been elected board president.
