Poet Laureate

Arthur Sze, 74, has been named the 25th poet laureate of the US. His most recent collection, Into the Hush, was published this year. He has spent twenty years in New Mexico teaching at the Institute of American Indian Arts. He succeeds Ada Limón and plans to focus on “poetry that has been translated into English from other languages.”

Enliven

Author and literary agent Annie DeWitt has launched Enliven, an agency offering a “full suite of services, including literary agenting, book to film and TV rights, international rights, as well as a film development and production arm.” She was previously at the Shipman Agency.

Mary Alice Stewart will join, building her own list.

Jemma McDonagh will represent Enliven’s foreign rights abroad in all markets.

Kirsten Wolf at Wolf Literary Services will provide legal counsel.

The agency will partner with LA-based book to film agent Rebecca Rodriguez, John Buffalo Mailer at Mailer Tuchman Media, and tv producer Matthew Silverstein. DeWitt is creating an advisory board that so far includes Leslie Shipman and Ira Silverberg.

Abraham Associates

Gary Lovely has joined as sales rep. He was most recently co-owner and managing partner at Two Dollar Radio HQ bookstore and cafe; and has been serving on the board of Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association.

Grand Central

Maris Tasaka has joined as a marketing manager. She was previously at Flatiron Books.
