Random House announced a number of recent promotions in its publicity department. Maria Braeckel and Jennifer Garza have been promoted to associate director of publicity; Greg Kubie moves up to assistant director of publicity; Christine Mykityshyn has been promoted to senior publicist; Dhara Parikh and Catherine Mikula both move up to associate publicist; and Danielle Siess has been promoted to associate publicist, social media and special events.

At Portfolio/Sentinel, Bria Sanford has been promoted to editor, while Margot Stamas moves up to publicity manager.

Michael Giarratano has joined Da Capo Press and Da Capo Lifelong Books as publicity manager, working out of the Boston office. Previously he was a publicist at Harvard University Press.

Matthew Lockhart joined David C Cook as publisher of the Standard Lesson Commentary, Bible-in-Life curriculum, and adult trade book resources. He was most recently vp, general manager, and publisher at Standard Publishing.

Author of the 1965 novel Georgy Girl and more than 20 published works, Margaret Forster, 77, died of cancer. Chatto & Windus in the UK is publishing her novel How to Measure A Cow on March 3.
