Ingram Closes Deal to Buy Perseus Distribution Companies

Ingram announced on Thurday that it has completed the acquisition of Perseus’ distribution business. First announced at the beginning of March (after a cancelled attempt in 2014), will combine the Perseus client service businesses, which have 600 publisher clients through Perseus Distribution, Consortium, Publishers Group West, and Legato, and their distribution facility in Jackson, TN, with Ingram Publisher Services. “We’re delighted to officially welcome associates and clients of Perseus’ distribution businesses to Ingram,” Ingram Content Group chairman and ceo John Ingram said in the announcement. “Ingram’s center of gravity is shifting to one that is more focused on providing comprehensive […]

Theresa Collier will join Artisan as senior publicist & associate marketing manager on April 1. Previously she was a publicist at Bloomsbury. Alexandra Primiani has joined Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as publicist. She was previously in the publicity department at Riverhead. Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature Imre Kertesz, 86, died Thursday at his home in Budapest. Adriana Rizzo will join Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as vp, marketing on April 6. Previously she was senior director, marketing at ESPN. For the second year in a row, James Patterson will award $1.75 million in grants (of $1,000 to $10,000) on a rolling basis throughout the year to school libraries. Once again the initiative is run in partnership with Scholastic Reading Club. Aligned with the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, Pocket Books has announced the release of more than 700 tie-in novels and novelizations in DRM-free ebook editions. At Simon & Schuster, Bob Bender has been promoted to vp, executive editor. In addition, Jofie Ferrari-Adler and Ben Loehnen also move up to executive editor. Brendan Curry has been appointed to the newly created role of vp, trade sales and marketing at Norton. Curry, who has been with Norton since 2001, most recently as senior editor, will oversee the “smooth integration and synthesis” of trade sales, marketing, and publicity.
