Ben Platt will join Public Books as global coordinating editor, where he will commission articles and expand web outreach. Previously he was an editor at Basic Books.

Chelsea Morgan and Kerry Johnson have both joined Simon & Schuster Children’s as production editors. Morgan was previously assistant production manager at Macmillan, while Johnson was most recently a freelance production editor.

Janine Sato has joined Chronicle Books as junior production designer. Previously she was a product designer at Apple.

Awards
The Thurber Prize has announced its shortlist, with the winner to be named on September 26:

Jason Gay, Little Victories (Doubleday)
Harrison Scott Key, The World’s Largest Man (Harper)
Mary Norris Between You & Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen (Norton)

PEN Center USA announced its Literary Award winners in various categories, including Sandra Cisneros’ A House Of My Own: Stories from My Life in creative nonfiction; Scott Blackwood’s See How SmallĀ in fiction; and more.
