ICM Partners has acquired The Sagalyn Agency after a four-year alliance with the Washington, DC based literary agency. Raphael Sagalyn becomes a partner at ICM Partners, effective immediately. Co-heads of the publishing division at ICM Esther Newberg and Sloan Harris said in the announcement, “The acquisition of The Sagalyn Agency gives us an important presence in Washington, DC, at a time when the world’s eyes are on the city moment by moment and the opportunities in publishing are boundless. Emilia Rhodes will join Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Children’s as editorial director on January 29. Previously she was senior editor at Harper Teen.
Scholastic Trade announced a number of promotions and hires. Aimee Friedman has been promoted to editorial director; Anamika Bhatnagar has been named associate publisher, Graphix, and Pilkey publishing; Jenne Abramowitz moves up to executive editor; Stephanie Peitz becomes director of cross channel marketing; Chloe Fraboni has been promoted to senior editor; Savannah D’Amico moves up to special markets sales associate; Caitlin Harpin has been named editorial director of Klutz; and Edward Quiceno becomes marketing coordinator of Klutz.
Brittany Leddy joins as marketing and publicity manager for Klutz. She was previously assistant marketing manager at Harper Children’s. Shalini Saxena joins as product editor, Klutz. She was previously editing educational materials at the New Teacher Center. Jasmine Miranda joins as marketing coordinator, education/library. She was previously at Macmillan Learning.
