People, Etc.: Enderlin Is Sole SMP Publisher As Richardson Becomes Chair

February 6, 2018
By Erin Somers

Building on the transition from mid-2016, Jen Enderlin becomes the sole publisher at St. Martin’s Press and will have all of the division’s publishing units reporting to her. Enderlin will report to Don Weisberg, as SMP president Sally Richardson takes the new role of chairman, also reporting to Weisberg. He writes: “Sally Richardson has been at SMP for 48 years, and has come to represent all that is good about the company. In her new job, Sally will help chart the future for St. Martin’s Press. She will continue to read and buy books and will bring her vast experience to guide our daily lives. Sally will also be paying particular attention to our international rights and publishing business.” Richardson notes that Weisberg calls the new position “my consigliere role,” in which she will “‘aid and abet’ Jen, to help guide the company, and use my years of experience to drive home the message that SMP is not only the best place to work, but the best place to publish.”

As part of the changes, Andrew Martin is named senior vice president, executive publishing director for St. Martin’s Press, still serving as publisher of Minotaur as well, now reporting to Enderlin. (VP, associate publisher, fiction Lisa Senz and vp, rights Kerry Nordling will now report to Martin.)

Also newly reporting to Enderlin are executive editor at large Leslie Gelbman, editorial director Joel Fotinos, and Tom Dunne. Enderlin notes that, “With all of these many changes, there will be promotions and new responsibilities in the areas of editorial, marketing, and publicity,” with more announcements coming soon. For now, Paul Hochman has been promoted to vice president, marketing.

Julia Pastore has left Harper One, where she was an executive editor, to launch Julia Pastore Editorial Services, providing developmental editing, line editing, ghostwriting, proposal development, and consulting.

The Gillian MacKenzie Agency and Wolf Literary Services have merged to form MacKenzie Wolf. The new company is led by partners Gillian MacKenzie, who heads the literary management division, and Kirsten Wolf, who manages the legal and financial consulting division. Allison Devereux and Rach Crawford continue as agents and will co-manage foreign rights. Kate Johnson continues as agent and UK rights manager. Elizabeth Rudnick joins as agent-at-large.

Lucy Cummins has been promoted to executive art director at Simon & Schuster Children’s and Paula Wiseman Books.

Windy Dorresteyn has been promoted to director of marketing and publicity at Ten Speed Press.

At Abrams, Nicole Schaefer has been promoted to assistant manager in the children’s marketing department. Hana Nakamura will join as associate art director of Appleseed and Amulet Books, moving over from Noterie on February 12.
